My Fabulous Friends – Ann Jangle

Queen of Hearts

23 January 2019

My Fabulous friends is about just ordinary people doing the extraordinary and so I love sharing their heartfelt stories…

I have been wanting to write about this wildly extravagant friend of mine for quite some time… but as with everything in my life…when we are in the flow the right timing will be just the right timing…

…And now is the absolute right timing…for a good cause…and who does not want to be part of a good cause…

A few months ago Ann decided to sell everything she owned and embarked on a journey:  “AFRICAN DREAM PARADE”

“This mission is based on a quest to find absolute freedom. Freedom from time, freedom from reoccurring relationships. Freedom from the questions I have about myself and questions I have about society. Freedom from my ego. To top it all off, freedom from paying someone else’s mortgage at a ridiculous amount because I chose to stay in an area where 4 million other mother humans beings also chose to.
So far, it has been the biggest and most humbling experience of my life.”

My name is Ann Jangle and this is my story:

They say people come into your life for a reason. After meeting a guy, who is now cycling to Morocco to raise awareness for endangered Donkeys, due to the Chinese “mannetjies” and their need to kill everything that moves, in order for them to receive super powers and prevent the inevitable thing called aging, I started meeting more and more crazy adventurous souls, who stick out from the norm, yet keep a very low profile because they know, that to live a life outside of what society tells us, they bravely need to go off grid over long periods of time, to cleanse, to figure things out, to reboot and drown in the pure ecstasy & healing energy that nature provides. (Go check him out on Facebook / Instagram – “A Donkey’s Life” / Keegan Horn & support his cause)  Continue reading “My Fabulous Friends – Ann Jangle”

My Fabulous Friends – Hanno & Felicia

Queen of Hearts                                                       13 July 2018

Hanno & Felicia

This is a truly amazing story…connection made from the heart…

We met this amazing human named Hanno in 2013 when he was dancing to his heart’s delight – in a field at an annual Origin festival – in the pouring rain.  This vision made such an impact on us and we immediately knew that we were kindred spirits for life.

Dancing together frees the soul and has brought many friends on our way.

We are so happy that our friend, Christo introduced us to Trance music in the year 2010.  Since then we have had so many beautiful memories made with amazing souls…

Who is Hanno?  If I have to sum him up and only use one word, it would be…’music’…yes absolutely the perfect word and if I could add a word…it would be ‘soul’…Hanno makes music for the soul… His favorite artist and inspiration…off course…Bob Marley!

So…obviously someone with such a talent, would have an awesome band.  This came about three years ago and is aptly named Rooted Souls.  They are absolutely amazing and love doing gigs.  They can be booked for live shows at 0728695523 or

Being an avid musician, Hanno found himself the most perfect playing partner named Koos 0765468664 and together they make music straight from the heart…

Yes, and their music is available on cd.

Hanno is very creative.

This logo on the cd is his own design. He even used to make jewellery as well.

Hanno likes building projects too and have made many a planter box as well as pieces of furniture.

Hanno and his beloved dog, Bubbles (she is nearly twelve years old and has her birthday the same day as my husband, B) has been part of The Wildfarm family for many years where he works as the manager.

Wildfarm is well worth a visit and will superbless with the most amazing views…sunrises and sunsets…a bucket-list must see.

Hanno found his perfect love match and they started dating November 2016.  Hanno were very sure of Felicia and subsequently their engagement followed in July 2017.

Together they have conceived this handsome baby boy, Nesta Kai, to add to their lovely family.

This family is very well loved, which shows in the lavish support they receive.

We were invited to their very different baby shower event  referred to as Nesta Kai’s Life Celebration

It was the first one for us where the guests were both men and women.  This was much more fun and I hope that this new trend of both Moms and Dads being together at their babies shower will catch on fast.

…and here (pic) is that famous logo again… Hanno made this special babygrow as soon as he found out that they were having a baby boy…

They were absolutely spoiled with presents…it was such a lovely day.

Hanno and Felicia each has a loving Mom who loves being part of their lives, which affords Nesta two very happy grandma’s for loving support.

Felicia were a city girl, from Johannesburg.  She has her own recruitment company named Protea Placements, with which she is very lucky to work from a home based environment.  She recruits mainly for business developers and sales executives.  Her area of focus mostly includes the cities like Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.  At a later stage she would like to do something similar, but with focus more towards tour guides…so watch this space…

She absolutely enjoys drawing, graphic design and illustrations.  I am blown away by her skills as an artist.  She is available for orders…maybe for your parties… or any design/art work needed and would like to expand this much loved creative side of her into a business.

As I am a firm believer that we are the architect of our own life…these creative ventures is what helps us find happiness.

How absolutely phenomenal are her drawings? Wow!

Both, Hanno and Felicia shares a passion for plants and at this stage, Felicia is working towards evolving into more of a plant medicine woman.  Her vision is to be able to help the community.  I can definitely see this happening.

This beautiful family is superblessed to have a comfortable living space at Wildfarm with stunning views overlooking Wilderness and right down to the Beach.

…we are superblessed with fabulous friends indeed…

My Fabulous Friends – Deon Brink

Queen of Hearts                                                         31 July 2018

Where to start with this most positive being, such an impressive soul..

We have danced with Deon at Trance festivals and I knew from the start that this was one awesome guy…but WOW…I am amazed with this super human and I definitely would like to share his story…

As my readers know, I am of firm belief that if we can WORK our passion…meaning to design a business of that which we are most passionate about…we would create our own happiness.

This man is the perfect example of being the architect of his own life for sure…

Deon matriculated in 1999 and started working immediately at Hot Spot Cycles. The very next year he already helped with the management of the store.

Beginning of 2001 Deon decided he should probably do some studying, which irritated him for only three weeks as he says he is definitely no bookworm.  So after three weeks of frustration, he went straight back into his job at Hot Spot Cycles.  He remained in their employ for the rest of 2001 until he received a better offer from Cycling J&J.  They are wholesalers for a good few Italian products including Campagnola / Bianchi Assos, Vredenstein etc.

Deon worked for them until 2008 when he had an interview with Dragons Sports (Giant / LIV / Mavic / Suntour etc).  He worked as a rep for them in Gauteng from 2008 up until 2012.

He then saw an opportunity to grow their area and Tandem Agencies were born with a partner…Jurgens.

Presently, Tandem Agencies tends to Dragons Sports/ Stage 9 / Spoke Works / Versus socks / GU nutrition / Extreme Lights and most other cycle shops in the North of South Africa from Bloemfontein to Messina.  Well done indeed Deon and partner, Jurgens!

Being an avid sportsman, a cyclist of note for more than twenty years, he has turned his passion into a dream job…

Deon has perfectly combined his job and hobby…

He works from home and on his own time which leaves him with the opportunity to see his daughter, Zanda -Lee, who he refers to as his Princess.

We visited Deon for the first time at home and I was blown away once again by this man. His home is spotless…he is definitely a ‘cleanie’.  Everything neatly in its place, even his garage, which is also his storeroom, has a whole wall of build in cupboards for neat storage space.

Inside his well organized office is stunning, complete with décor of our trance festivals.  When he works late at night, he can listen to trance, which works well with his phenomenal, quick functioning brain.  He says: “Music is a piece of art, that goes in the ears STRAIGHT TO THE HEART”  I do agree.

And because he feels about music as he does about cycling, an idea turned into a great hobby,  Fixie explorers, were born… which are bikes being build with one fixed gear and…without brakes…yes, no jokes…no brakes…

He gathers old parts and up cycle (pun intended) these into a dream pimped cycle, named aptly a ‘fixie’. He builds around three per year in the winter time when business might be slower and it is fast becoming a trend.

Deon is also the agent for GIANT in Gauteng which keeps him real busy.  He has always been a part of riding Critical Mass, until recently when he started his own similar event, Fixie explorers.  This exciting event for professional riders as well as newbies already has a number of growing followers.

Deon’s motto that he shares with the world is to “NEVER LOSE YOUR SENSE OF WONDER”…

We joined in with so much gratitude on Sunday…Deon’s monthly cycling event and found around 25 – 30 participants excited and ready for fun.

We cruised for 12 km through the streets of Soweto, Gauteng!

We did not have any gear with us as my husband, B (in the pic above), is  working in Vaalwater at the moment and we definitely did not foresee us gallivanting through the streets of Soweto on a bicycle.

Luckily Deon has more than enough bicycles and sorted us out and will do the same for you.

We were so impressed with his expertise.  His easy and relaxed manner in which he sorted each and every one, no challenge too much.  I believe this would be the reason why the turnout for this event was astounding.

This was an extremely well guided, casual event to even include amateurs as myself.

Events like this one occurs every month…each time at a different location, very well planned by Deon himself.

Anyone and everyone is welcome, this beautiful family with their son and baby boy were an absolute example of what having fun with your children…

We also had the paparazzi with us…styling it with not only one, but three professional photographers.

They were Brandon Hilton of Simple Sam Bicycles, Milan de Beer photography, Daniel Coetzee photography.

These three arrived with very expensive sponsored bicycles which they definitely deserved, snapping the most amazing photos in their stride.

We were told to meet at Soweto Brew Co.  Secured parking were arranged.  Deon left nothing to chance organizing every detail expertly of this lovely event.

On our cycling road trip, we stopped at the very impressive Hector Pieterson Museum for a guided talk from an experienced tour guide.  Hector Pieterson was a South African school boy who was shot and killed during the Soweto uprising when police opened fire on students protesting the enforcement of teaching in Afrikaans. A news photograph by Sam Nzima of the mortally wounded Pieterson being carried by another Soweto resident while Sam’s sister ran next to them was published around the world.  The anniversary of his death is designated Youth Day (16 June) when South Africans honor young people and bring attention to their needs.

What excitement as we went to see the inside of Orlando power station.  This decommissioned coal -fired power station served Johannesburg for over 50 years.  Even cooler (another pun intended) now as both these majestic towers are magnificently painted, one functioning as an advertising billboard and the on the other appears the largest mural painting in South Africa.

These awe-inspiring towers are now also used for bungee and base jumping.

How freeing and insightful it was to dash through the streets of Soweto…friendly folk waving and cheering us along.  Seeing and feeling the essence of this often misunderstood culture of our people.

We absolutely loved it…

Thankfully our very strong friend Alex, were riding with us as he usually has my back…(another pun most definitely intended) this time even more so, as at some point I really needed it…

I had a most stunning bicycle borrowed from Deon, but only figured out how the gears worked at the end, when we were nearly back at our meeting point…

Photo credits to Johan Brink, who is the father of our stunning friend, Deon.

Johan apparently does not miss a chance to ride out with his son at these events and why not, as he rides on the latest electric Giant Full-e bicycle.  He also has a 2016 model (left pic), which were a life changer for him.

When we arrived…quite thirsty I might add…back to our secured parking from our cycling tour, we went for a well deserved lunch at the Ubuntu Kraal beer garden, complete with the best beer tasting for only R15 we have ever had.  We could not fault any of the beers, they were all delicious and must be the reason that we stayed so much longer than anticipated.

Not only were the beer delectable, but when the food arrived, we were bowled over…

There were such a buzz of camaraderie from all the participants and new friendships were made with people from all walks of life.

We highly recommend this monthly ride out with Deon.  He is just the best!

…but wait…there is more…

As cycling is his absolute passion, he enticed us to watch the Tour de France 105th edition at his house including Alex and Johan.

Deon and Alex has been friends for more than ten years.  We were warned that we were going to have a bachelor’s braai, which meant no side dishes.  It was delicious and we felt totally spoiled.  Deon and Alex both loves cold Tequila and we braved a few!

Obviously, being the cycle enthusiast that he is, he had us in stitches, entertaining us with his excitement as we were watching the Tour de France.  He went to fetch his helmet for the grand finale…

Not only were we entertained, but I learned so much about the cyclists and this sport as Deon is highly knowledgeable of this which is his life passion!

Oh yes…and the winners…1st Geraint Thomas, 2nd Tom Domoulin (Sunweb/Giant), 3rd Chris Froome

Oh yeah ladies, best of all, Deon is single…but better be quick…being the amazing man he is, definitely not for long…

…you would be superblessed as we are indeed!…

My Fabulous Friends – Katie and Lloyd

Queen of Hearts                                                            1 June 2018

Lloyd & Katie

Two of my absolute favorite people…

Katie were born in America, but she loves where she lives now in Mosselbay –  for the last ten years…and according to her… living the dream.

Katie is a ray of sunshine, but has a serious job as the CEO of African Campus. This is a training education center.

The goal is to bring mainly foreign students from overseas to South Africa.

She works with various companies, Marine Research, a terrestrial research and a media company.

The students, mainly undergrads, come to do field training.

Obviously with marine biology, there is quite a few different directions you choose from, whether it is physiology or biology or behavioural studies etc.

It is really difficult to decide what you want to do, for example a two year’s masters program without actually knowing what that means. So when the students come over for month long periods, she usually already have between six and ten different research projects running at the same time. Each day the students do a morning activity as well as an afternoon activity and so cycle through all the different projects. By the end of the month they have had exposure and training in the data collection and the data analyses with all the projects. This helps them figure out what they love or not and so can help them with their career choice. This is how the research program works.

With the media program, one has to have a portfolio filled with photography, filming and journalism. You have to have proof that you can do it…with the month long program, students get exposure with sports and wildlife photography. Their first week and a half, would be learning video and sound skills, building their story. Then they go to a game reserve for two weeks and there they film. When they come back, they edit this until they have a three to five minute film which they can submit to possible employers, film festivals etc.

All of the various projects are conservation based.

It started with just the research, but research only takes you so far and the research aspect can be really boring…so it is good to have a wide variety of skills and different people want to learn and be taught different skills…so the idea is that no matter what your passion, if you want to be a conservationist or if you want to get involved, the various training is available. The website is and they have been stationed in Mosselbay for nine years.

Recently Katie decided to improve every aspect of her life by concentrating on her health and fitness…inspiration to all of us. She keeps challenging herself to be a better version of herself…words for all to live by…

Lloyd is always smiling and have the most positive attitude. He is all about love and laughter. His laughter is infectious…he is all heart.

Lloyd is an excellent chef and up until recently owned a restaurant in Mosselbay, which is now sold.

After this he was asked to chef on a beautiful boat.

For this, he had to get his STCW and is now available for some more of the same.

About four years ago, we were superblessed to have Lloyd chef for us in our very own kitchen which afforded him celebrity status when he were featured in celebrity newspapers.

Seems like they love their celebrity status as it happens  quite often.

They have been married for more than a year and I felt honored indeed when they asked me to do their ceremony for them.  A stunning forest wedding.

They are a unique couple, well loved and forever sharing the love with everyone…

They have a loving support from their family. We have had the pleasure of meeting both of their parents and relatives and all of them awesome. Lloyd’s beautiful daughter is with us on this photo below.

…we are superblessed

with gratitude to have them as our friends!…

My Fabulous Friends – Reinhardt and Nadine

Queen of Hearts

30 May 2018

What a privilege to know these two amazing friends for so many years and to now also have our long time dream come true…to own this piece of the Garden Route together with them.

We met Reinhardt when he was just about to be teenager. He grew up in front of us as his parents, Johan and Este used to work with me in Potgietersrus at our Estate Agency.

Even then, while still at school, Reinhardt and his brother Marnitz, did some maintenance and other odd jobs for pocket money. They were keen entrepreneurs of note…selling sweets at their boarding school in Oudtshoorn and always planning inventive ways to earn an income.

After school, Reinhardt was unsure of a good income in South Africa and so he went traveling and ended up in London where he met his lovely wife, Nadine. They stayed on in London, working hard and smart together and even more important, living frugal, saving every pound they could for nine years.

All those years, they kept inviting us to come visit them in London. They came to visit us often in South Africa and just before they left London for good, we eventually went to visit them in 2009.

We had the most awesome experience as they took time off and became our tour guides.

In my high school years, my friend Ronel and I had a saying – ‘that one day we would shop in Harrods of London’ – well, I had the opportunity to do just that…and what a magnificent building.

Then we had the opportunity to sleep in one of Reinhardt’s clients’ apartment in Chelsey.

After this we traveled the countryside…

I remember a few places…Bakoven comes to mind…we saw magnificent castles…

We went to Nottingham castle as well and had a beer inside the oldest pub.

We so enjoyed spending time with them in London, but even better was when they came and lived in South Africa. They used their savings to buy an awesome home in Milnerton, Cape Town. Working smart once again, they renovated a flat onto their home and the rental income paid for the most of their outstanding bond. They kept renovating and now even have enough space to work their business, ‘Custom Fit’ from home. With the renovation, came celebrity status.

Reinhardt and Nadine has two handsome sons of their own now and he is working with what has always been his passion…wood.  Reinhardt loves treehouses and so build one for his sons….

As mentioned, Custom fit.  Check out the fancy furniture on their website as well as his facebook page. He can also help with whatever request you have.
Reinhardt also loves designing something new…this is one of the two he hammocks he designed for  Africa Burn.

His other passion includes his self-build pipecar. This is his pride and joy and he is talking about making a business of this…

I believe he is onto something once again…

Nadine recently stopped working as she has a lot on her plate with their toddler, as well as their special needs baby who was born with Spina bifida.  I tip my hat as to me, she is definitely superwoman.

I have seen Nadine in action work wise, raking in bonus after bonus.  She was an excellent employee working from her office in Cape Town, as well as from home. This is the reason I would like to mention what she did as someone reading this, might know of a job where she might be able to work from home. All she needs is a computer, which she has…

Nadine dealt with all the direct bookings for Asilia Africa…setting up properties on, expedia, agoda…all sorts of different online travel agents on those platforms.  She also took bookings via those platforms, dealing with the international guests.  She put together tailor made itineraries for South Africans as well as International tourists visiting Tanzania, Zanzibar and Kenya.

The firm she used to work for has a preferred number of agents they work with. Once she had the booking, she would pass it on and they would then advise on all the necessary travel flights, transfers, extra accommodation etc. Usually it would not just be straight forward. In the Serengeti for example to go from point A to point B, would require park fees or maybe guests would be flying in etc. The agents is better equipped to put together itineraries in that regard, but if it is for Southern African residents or East African residents, she would take those bookings directly and could make all the necessary arrangements. Zanzibar were also one of her destinations, but could be booked through their website…

Together this family makes an awesome team and I am superblessed to know them.

Superblessed with love!

Gratitude for such a beautiful friendship indeed!

My Fabulous Friends – Martin

The Queen of Hearts

30  May 2018

Martin has been our friend and masseuse for a very long time. He is the most positive person I know and I have learned so much from him and still this continues…

He lives on Southern Comfort Ranch,  a farm in Harkerville close to Plettenberg Bay. His family have been living together on this farm for many years. Southern Comfort has always been a horse ranch, where horse riding services were offered with around 35 horses. Only later on the four wheeler’s were introduced. Recently, the horses have been relocated and this part of the services terminated.

I met Magriet, Martin’s Mom, in the year 2000, when I had my advertising business…’The Holiday Maker’.  I use to sell advertising space to them for seven years.

They have been trying slowly, over the years, to migrate away from tourist related income, especially with the horses. There was a time where they were one of ten horse riding services available, but in their area this number has now ventured down to just two.

Volunteers are welcomed on Southern Comfort.

Martin is one of the best masseuse as this is his passion and when someone works his passion, he becomes the best.  Martin also offers massage courses and approaches the body with all its elements – mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, energetic and ancestral. He believes that if we can grasp the importance of what we are about and consistently work with these bodily elements, we can access our super powers. I salute!

Martin prefers to have only two students per course as he wants to forward this importance to his students and therefore needs to provide them with individual attention. In having only two to teach,  he knows that the recurring procedure will be easiest to remember. This way of teaching, will provide the student to not only feel (lying on the table) where muscles are in his own body, but when his turn arrives to massage, he will also know how it feels when you are the receiver. This procedure can easily be remembered as it will be done three times per day, because of fewer students. So Martin will have one student on the table and show the other student what to do, teaching them about the bodies’ anatomy. The student on the table gives feedback the whole time on what he is feeling. They swop after the session and he goes through the whole teaching again. Afterwards Martin receives a massage from each of his students and gives them feedback throughout. This is done either in three to five days. Martin says that this simple way of teaching has proven the most effective. In the beginning of the course, there is too much chatter daily, but within three days they work in silence, because of this simple method of teaching. Martin wants to be absolutely sure that his students have confidence and the knowledge that they are equipped and one hundred percent ready.

He has not been disappointed as his feedback on his courses has been amazing.

Contact Martin for course prices as he is best able to work out a cost to suit your budget.

Recently Martin and his girlfriend Chi-Chi, (about her skills coming soon) took some time out and traveled to Thailand. Usually this would mean expenses and no income. The greatest attribute of being an amazing masseuse, is the fact that you can work anywhere and Martin came back from his holiday with more money than he went with.

Martin became more mobile by buying a bus to have a treatment space easily accessible on the road.

Last year we were superblessed to have Martin and Chi-Chi travel with us to Mozambique. We were on holiday for more than a month, visiting new places and every now and again, Martin made some moola just by doing what he loves to do…how superblessed is he!

Martin also provides a healthier alternative to tobacco which he aptly named ‘Holy Roly’.

Holy Roly is a combination of 15 different organic material and medicinal plant varieties. Martin claims that this tobacco can be healing for lungs and other organs. It can be made into a tea as well which will be beneficial as intestinal bacteria support. Some more uses includes smudging/ incense and even using it in food.

Martin can also be contacted for sacred ceremonies of all sorts.

We were superblessed to have enjoyed a good few Afrika Burn’s with Martin being one of the fire chiefs.  He has become one of the favorites on and off photographs!

…Superblessed to have this fabulous friend!…

Gratitude for your friendship…♡
